DBS hit by death of CEO

DBS CEO Richard Stanley has died from complications of leukaemia. Richard Stanley who was diagnosed with acute myelogenous leukaemia in late January, died at 8:36am Saturday. He was 48.

Our condolences goes to the family and friends of Richard Stanley.

Pacman versus Golden Boy

Manny Pacquiao will go up against his toughest foe ever in the boxing arena, Oscar De La Hoya.

The fight will be held at the MGM Grand Las Vegas on December 6 2008.

De La Hoya has great advantage standing at 5'10'' and has 6inches longer reach. Pacquiao has the upper hand on the age department being six years younger than his opponent.

The fight will be under the welterweight division (147 lb.). This means that Pacman has to put in more weight while the Golden Boy has to trim down.

Pacman is expected to earn $15 million if the match earns $100 million.

USA basketball team wins gold over Spain

The US basketball team finally regained glory in the World Basketball arena by beating Spain in the Beijing Olympics Basketball Finals. Although, it was a close fight and the match was only decided in the last few minutes of the game. The Spaniards put up a good fight but was overwhelmed by the Americans.

Spain is the reigning FIBA World Champion.

Dwayne Wade of the Miami Heat lead the way in scoring for the Americans with 27 points. Kobe Bryant added 20 points while LeBron James had 14 points. Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony each had 13 points.

Globe offers Apple iPhone 3G at lower price?

Globe has announced that it's now planning to sell the iPhone 3G prepaid for only P37,599 and P43,799 for the 8GB and 16GB respectively. The Apple iPhone 3G will be available starting August 22.

The original pricing initially announced were P41,899 for the 8GB and P48,899 for the 16GB iPhone 3G.

The unit will also be available via postpaid plans from P1,599 to P4,999 per month.
